Fence Posts
Our fence posts are built to last, providing strong and reliable support for any fencing project. We stock H4 and H5-treated timber posts, designed for in-ground use to resist rot and decay. Whether you're securing a boundary, building a stock fence, or constructing a sturdy garden enclosure, our posts ensure durability in all weather conditions.
For the best stability and longevity, fence posts should be set in the ground with concrete. This provides a solid foundation, preventing movement and ensuring the fence stands strong against wind and pressure. Using quick-set or standard concrete helps lock the post in place, reducing the risk of warping or leaning over time.
Available in a range of sizes to suit your needs, our quality timber fence posts are the solid foundation your fence deserves. Need advice on the right post for your project? Our team is here to help!

Timber Yard Tales

Why does timber shrink and swell like it’s got mood swings?
Timber is a living thing - even after it’s been milled, stacked, and sold. It’s still breathing, still reacting to the weather like your uncle after a few too many shandies at Christmas.
When it’s humid or raining, timber soaks up moisture and swells. When the sun comes out and things dry off, it shrinks back down again. It’s a natural cycle; but if you don’t plan for it, your nice straight deck can end up gapping like it’s got missing teeth, or twisting like a carnival ride.
If your timber turns up wet from a winter downpour, don’t just start building with it straight off the bat. Stack it somewhere dry with fillets (those thin spacer strips) between each layer. That way, air can flow around the boards properly, giving the timber time to climatise and dry out. Rushing in with soaked timber is a shortcut to warping, cupping, and a whole lot of regret.
Different woods move in different ways. Kiln dried? More stable. Green timber? She’s gonna dance. That’s why it pays to choose the right stuff for the job and allow for expansion and contraction in your design.
Little Steve's tip? Don’t fight the timber. Work with it. A bit of breathing room now saves you a world of grief later.
